Master's Program
English Special Selection is the recommended admission path. PI consent is required before applying. See the Master's applicants section below for the application process.
Doctoral Program
All examination types are available for international applicants. See the Doctoral applicants section below for details.
High School Students
Consider the Bachelor's Program in Global Issues (BPGI) as a pathway to graduate research.
MEXT Scholarship
For MEXT (Japanese Government) Scholarship applicants, we prioritize Embassy Recommendation candidates. University Recommendation spots are limited, so please secure Embassy Recommendation first if possible. See MEXT Scholarship Information for details.
Important: Research students (Kenkyusei) are accepted only for those who have already passed the entrance examination. We have no plans to accept research students prior to passing the exam.

English Special Selection is the recommended path for international applicants
PI Consent Required
Before applying, you must obtain consent (内諾) from the PI. Submit the consent application form below.
Enrollment in October
English Special Selection is typically held around January–February, with enrollment in the following October.

Doctoral Program
For Doctoral Applicants
PI consent is required for all doctoral applicants
PI Consent Required
All doctoral applicants must obtain consent (内諾) from the PI before applying, regardless of the examination type.
April and October Entry
Examinations are held around August and January–February, with enrollment in the following April or October. English Special Selection typically allows October entry. Graduates enrolling in October may be accepted as pre-enrollment research students from April to September.

For High School Students
Bachelor's Program in Global Issues (BPGI)
High school students interested in our research area can consider the Bachelor's Program in Global Issues (BPGI) at the University of Tsukuba, where KaLC Lab PI can be your mentor or academic advisor. No PI consent is required — you can apply directly.
After completing the undergraduate program, you may proceed to the Master's and Doctoral Program in Informatics (MDPI) to join our lab.
